Family Run Business Since 1943
Proprietor Tomas's late mother Bridget Divilly and your new husband Michael Gullane bought a small bar and grocery shop in 1943 for the picely sum of £ 775.00 , that would eventually evolve to beome a focal piont for a town and its community
They reared a family of four children on the premises ,Padraic , Eamon, Tomas and Anna.
As the swinging sixties emerged so did Ballinasloe's 1st Singing pub.
In the snug the family piano was commandeered and with that the log cabin prototype emerged.
Ballinasloe was a mecca for entertainment in the 60's with the showband scene at its hey day and the Emerald Ballroom packaing crowds of 2000 into the premises for a three hour hop with only a soft drink bar, couples turned to trendy spots in town for some pre dancing enterainment and the log cabin become synonymous nwith great live entertainment and a good night out.
In the 70's brought the 1st expansiion with the building a luxury 300 seater venue and function lounge with music 7 nights a week, some of the biggest names in Ireland would go on the play in the venue
As the end of the 80's drew to a close plans were set in motion for a futher expansion and in early 1991 14 bedrooms and an additional 2 function suites along with a modernisation of the restuarant, bar and carvery , thus The Modern Era of Gullanes Hotel was born.
Along with Caroline his wife and their family Eimear, Ailbhe, Graeme, and Hannah , like his family before him they lived and worked on the premises
Again in 2004 he amassed the premises beside the existing hotel and renovated and rebuilt a fine 3 bay edifice onto the street , boasting 27 bedrooms, additional meeting rooms, function suites as well as re orienated the foyer and entrances
The hotel now opens daily at 7.30am for breakfast right through to evening meals till 9.00pm and most nights has a aray of dining and function options. With a Strong team off over 60 staff the hotel is well placed for the future.
As the 75th year in business draws to a close , we are looking forward to the future, we hope to continue to advance and flourish whilst continuing to provide real and genuine customer service
